Bajirao Mastani swept the Filmfare Awards 2016 by bagging 9 awards in total. Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor Awards, Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the Best Director of 2016, it also won in other categories for Best Film, Best Actress in Supporting Role (Priyanka Chopra), Best Action, Best Costume, Best Production Design and Best Playback Singer Female (Shreya Ghosal).

The other big winner of the evening was Shoojit Sircar’s Piku, which won 5 awards including yet another Best Actress award for Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan walked away with the Best Actor (Critics) trophy, Piku was also adjudged the Best Film by the critics.
