Star Cast : Sonakshi Sinha, Konkona Sen Sharma, Amit Sadh, Anurag Kashyap
Directed by : AR Murugadoss
Genre : Action
Duration : 2 hours 18 minutes

AKIRA means graceful strength in Sanskrit. The movie, which happens to be an official remake of the Tamil hit film MOUNA GURU, is essentially a story of a daredevil woman and her fight for survival amidst a bunch of brutal and corrupt cops who can plunge to any level in order to save their skin.

Sonakshi Sinha is an eye-catching action star and delivers a power-packed performance, coming exactly to terms with what is exactly required, Sonakshi kicks the right butts and ‘khamoshes’ (silences) her critique who considered her just a add on in those blockbusters starring super stars. Director AR Murugadoss, who has previously worked with Sonakshi in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, does a commendable job in delivering a no nonsense almost song less thriller (a rarity) and even remarkably portrays the vulnerability of its characters, unfortunately it has its share of flaws which we cannot ignore. Anurag Kashysap is hands down, a skilled actor. Already one of the most acclaimed directors, Kashyap deliriously delivers his evil plans with a joint between his fingers. He utilizes every bit of opportunity to play this despicable character and goes about it like a veteran.

On the whole, AKIRA is a good watch.

Sonakshi moves, feels and looks the part in an effort that’s empty heft because the script is extraordinarily dated and bereft of punch, feels Sukanya Verma. One of the greatest gifts of marketing is to conduct business with an air of social purpose…

Glamsham:

AKIRA powerfully ups the ante of Sonakshi Sinha as an awesome, fearless, rough and tough action hero in AR Murugadoss assured edge of the seat thriller. The movie fights the directors 90’s indulgence with some smartly beefed up acts by Anurag Kashyap…
