The Kapil Sharma Show To Go Off Air? Channel Not Keen On Renewing 106 Cr Deal 25 Mar 2017   215

The Kapil Sharma Show is in some real trouble. As if the crisis due to Kapil Sharma’s ugly fight with co-star Sunil Grover aka Dr. Mashoor Gulati wasn’t enough, it has now been reported that in the wake of the controversy, Channel is considering to pull plug on the comedy show.

According to the reports, the channel, Sony Entertainment Television, was planning to renew its contract with the show for a Rs 106 crore deal but has decided to pull the plug on its top-rated programme after Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar, etc., did not turn up for the shoot of the show and its TRP’s showed going downwards.

A source quoted to a leading daily, “Kapil has had to cancel shoots as he couldn’t get big celebs as guests. He has, in fact, left for Bikaner to shoot for his film, Phirangi, and will return to Mumbai on March 29.”

Sources also said Sunil gets around Rs 7 lakh per episode while Kapil gets about Rs 1 crore an episode, So obviously Kapil is likely to face major loss if the show cancels.

Meanwhile, Sunil is believed to have had many offers from rival channels at better pay.
